That charge doesn't add up?
Question the charge.
Follow it to the money.
You noticed. Proving it, or putting it to rest, is ours. Add one bill. Within 72 hours of complete records you get a documented answer and a decision that is yours to make.
Free 72-hour cross-check · You keep 70% · No recovery, no fee
How it works
Ten seconds of your time. Then the evidence does the work.
Refund Office is the recovery tab inside Billigence. You hand it a bill you don't trust. Return Desk, the service behind it, cross-checks the bill against the records that should explain it: invoice, payment, rate, credit, account history.
Add the bill.
The one that doesn't sit right. Tell us what seems wrong. We confirm what records we need and when they are complete. The 72-hour clock starts then.
We cross-check it.
Against the invoice, the payment, the rate, any credit, and the account history. Every finding carries its source. Every number is to the cent.
You see what the evidence supports.
One of three answers: the records support a refund basis, the charge holds, or more evidence is needed. Then you choose: Pursue, Not now, or I'll handle it.
What a finding looks like
Every item in your answer shows what we examined, what we noticed, which records support it, what it means, and what happens next. A finding is a documented lead, never a promise of money.
When the charge holds
You get that answer with the same care. It closes the question and costs nothing. Owners who get a no-finding answer and send a second bill are the signal we watch for most.
Where it lives
One screen for the whole portfolio. Refund Office is one tab on it.
Billigence is the owner's desk: collections, occupancy, past-due items, bank balances, compliance, vendor bills, and the decisions that need you today. You read instruments, not reports. Click any one for the evidence behind it. Approve or defer, nothing else.
Billigence is in pilot preview with one owner. Every tile above is simulated; the live desk reads from the owner's own records and marks what is live and what is not. Refund Office is designed and not yet built; it opens from this tab. Refunds show as money only once they have arrived.
You stay in control
Nothing reaches a vendor until you have read it. Nothing costs you until the money arrives.
Control
- Every finding is a documented lead, never a promise.
- You choose Pursue, Not now, or I'll handle it, item by item.
- You read the exact message before anything goes to a vendor: sender, recipient, text, attachments, amount.
- Refunds go to your entity, never through us.
Price
- The cross-check is free. The clock starts when we confirm in writing that the records are complete.
- You keep 70%. We earn 30% of the gross amount recovered, only when a refund reaches you or a credit lowers a bill you owed.
- A vendor's promise earns us nothing. It starts tracking.
- No recovery, no fee. If money is later taken back, the fee on that amount is returned.
What we won't do
- Move funds or change bank details.
- Cancel services or amend contracts.
- Accept a settlement on your behalf.
- Contact a vendor without your approval.
- Replace your bookkeeper or your accounting software.
The records support a refund basis. You see the amount, the evidence, and the exact next step.
The charge is supported by the records you supplied. The question is closed, with the reasons.
The evidence is insufficient. We name the record that would decide it, and you choose whether to find it.
A promise never looks like a receipt
Every claim moves through named states. The ledger shows a refund as money only at the last one.

Where this is going
You shouldn't have to suspect. We'd rather check.
The next shape of Refund Office is an agent that checks every bill as it arrives against the records that should explain it, and tells you "checked, nothing needs you" on most days. It would never act without you. That is the plan, not a feature: it needs standing owner consent and record-retention terms we have not finished. Today, the way in is one bill at a time.
Building this with us
Real, early, and run under written rules.
Matchup Labs builds governed digital workforces: declared outcomes, approval gates on anything irreversible, verifiable completion. Billigence is built that way. It has a written outcome and kill conditions. A clean negative result is a legitimate end. We would rather hear what is wrong than be told it is great.
Technical lead
Ship a thin, correct, approval-gated system over a broad impressive one. Sit in on the first manual cross-checks, because that is where the requirements come from. Own the check library and the ledger.
Delivery partner
Bookkeepers and small CPA firms who hold the records and the owner's trust. Utility-billing specialists who take the tariff, classification and tax questions we route to them.
Design partner
Work on an instrument-grade owner's console: gauges, ledger lines, a state palette where simulated never looks live and a promise never looks like a receipt.
Add the bill
Send us the one you don't trust.
During the pilot, intake runs by hand. Email the bill and three lines about it. We reply with what we read on it and what records we would need. Nothing is pursued, and nothing is sent to anyone, without your written go.
- The bill, as a PDF or photo.
- What seems wrong, in your words.
- Who signs for the entity that paid it.
The cross-check is performed by Return Desk (Matchup Labs), the service behind Refund Office. Pilot fit: you sign for the entity, the bills in question run at least $5,000 a month, you have at least 12 months of them, and there is no open dispute on the item.
Opens your mail app with the subject filled in. Attach the bill before you send.
